We are currently seeking a highly organised and commercially aware individual, with strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude to join our team as a Transport & Shipping Manager.
Role Overview
As a Transport & Shipping Manager, you will be responsible for managing all of our shipping operations, both domestic and international, as well as managing our employed delivery driver and overseeing their daily deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating successful Royal Mail collections, ensuring adequate supply of York cages and shipping materials, and generating manifests.
- Managing parcel disputes and escalations raised internally or by customers.
- Booking international shipments with FedEx and other carriers, generating shipping labels and arranging collections.
- Proactively tracking shipments and resolving any delays, customs issues or disruptions.
- Ensuring the most appropriate and cost-effective shipping services are always utilised.
- Monitor, record, and maintain accurate documentation of shipping and carrier spend to support operational reporting and cost management.
- Generating and presenting shipping quotes to internal sales and account management teams, including all associated costs (shipping, fuel surcharges, duties and taxes).
- Handling inbound customs queries via email, ensuring accurate and compliant responses.
- Managing duties/taxes paid on behalf of customers and ensuring these are charged back correctly.
- Overseeing same day deliveries with our employed driver and external couriers, ensuring cost efficiency and high service standards.
- Processing and documenting fines in line with our driving policy.
- Assisting with inbound deliveries and supporting the Goods In team where required.
- Overseeing waste collections and cardboard baling.
- Supporting general warehouse presentation.
